Supply Chains in an Uncertain Era – A Cross Disciplinary Collaboration
August 20th-23rd, 2024

Join us in 2024 at National Taiwan Ocean University
The early 2020s are an era of economic, political, environmental, hygienic and regulatory uncertainties, which result in various challenges to global supply chain management. How to overcome these challenges via systematic research to find the best practices to maintain and facilitate smooth regular global trade requires cross-discipline collaboration from academics and the logistics industry. Prolonged economic conflicts between major nations, two regional wars in Europe and Middle East, the interrupting occurrence of the coronavirus, and the EU ending block exemption for shipping are all disruptive issues for logistics academicians and supply chain managers. The insourcing of the manufacturing industry in North America and Western Europe, the diversion of cargo ships via the Cape Horn and Cape Hope, the replacement of labor by autonomous and intelligent machines, and the de-alliance of two leading ocean container carriers are some of the industrial strategic responses to these challenges. We are still to determine if these responses come with doors opened for the possibility of additional repercussion impacts. This conference aims to attract worldwide attention from academia and talent in the logistics and supply chain industry to facilitate the exchange of ideas and collaborative work across various disciplines, thereby ensuring the smooth and sustainable operation of the global supply chain.

Message from IFLS Chairperson
On behalf of the IFLS, it is my great honor and pleasure to congratulate the 18th ICLS Conference. The IFLS is an international academic organization established in 2003. In its early stage, mostly the scholars from Asian countries participated in the conference; such as Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. However, the conference has been expanding to the worldwide academic organization. Since 2003, the IFLS has been holding annual ICLS conferences almost every year, except the COVID-19 pandemic period of 2020 and 2021, during which we had to hold on-line conferences. But we are very glad that the ICLS conference is again vitalized in 2022 in Thailand and 2023 in Korea; and this year we are very happy to have the ICLS 2024 in Keelung, Taiwan, with more people and more papers presented. We are very much grateful for the organizing committee of ICLS 2024; the General Chairperson, Professor Feng-Ming Tsai; and many other colleagues of Taiwan for their devotion. The ICLS 2025 is scheduled to be held in Hong Kong; and we are also very excited to announce the venue of the ICLS 2026 during the conference. I hope that all the participants will enjoy this conference by sharing academic achievements, as well as expanding our fellowship with other participants, and promote the knowledge in logistics and SCM systems to make the world a better place to live.
